FAQs

HOW DO I BOOK?

All of our tables are available to book on our website through ResDiary. Alternatively you can email contact@fancetts.com or call 01223354093 on days we are open to chat to one of our team before making a reservation.

I HAVE DIETARY REQUIREMENTS – CAN I BOOK?

We will happily find an option for those with dietary requirements in the evening, but we are a French restaurant, so meat, fish, cheese and butter are our thing! Please take that into consideration when choosing to dine with us.

Due to the small size of the lunch menu, it is difficult for us to accommodate dietary requirements (other than vegetarian) at lunchtime.

In the evenings we kindly ask that we are notified of all allergies and dietary requirements upon booking and with at least one week’s notice. We have a small menu consisting of 4 starters, 4 mains, 4 desserts, and cannot always guarantee we will have appropriate alternatives without prior notice. This is not necessary for pescatarians/vegetarians as we will always have at least one delicious vegetarian option and fish option for each course on our main menu as standard.

DO YOU HAVE A BAR WHERE WE CAN HAVE A DRINK IF WE ARRIVE EARLY?

Regrettably we do not have a bar where it is possible to have a drink prior to your booking slot. We recommend the following pubs/bars which a really close by and great for a pre-dinner drink:
– Cambridge Blue
– Bar 196
– Kingston Arms

HOW DO I GET TO YOU?

There are public bike racks and a public car park opposite the restaurant which is accessible via Gwydir Street. We are an 8 minute walk from Cambridge Train Station.

WHERE IS 96A? I’VE WALKED PAST NUMBER 96 BUT I CAN’T SEE YOU!

Mill Road is a strange one – the numbers start again after Gwydir Street. We are located between Taank Optometrists and Al Amin in what used to be Tattooing by Fabio. It’s fairly close to the bridge on the Petersfield side.

ARE DOGS ALLOWED?

Even though we all love them, unfortunately we do not allow them in the premises.
Guide dogs are the only exemption.

HOW OFTEN DO YOUR MENUS CHANGE?

Our menu evolves weekly, samples menus are updated regularly, and daily menus are posted to our Instagram – @fancettsbistro

IS THIS A SUITABLE RESTAURANT FOR CHILDREN?

Fancett’s is primarily a grown up, intimate restaurant for adults. Much better suited to a date night than family event. We do allow children at lunchtime but are not able to accept guests under 12 years old for a dinner booking. Please note it is not possible to keep pushchairs table-side due to and the small size of the bistro and we do not serve children’s options at any time.

WHATS YOUR BIGGEST TABLE SIZE?

We can accommodate a group of 6 at 18:00 or 20:30 outside of our busier times or have a private dining room‘The Scullery’ which can hold 8 guests. Due to the intimate style of the restaurant, we do not allow larger groups to book over several tables as this can have a negative impact on the experience of other diners.
